Seen Any Good Movies Lately?

About a month ago when my friend and I were considering movies to go and see, and Blind Side was a possibility, I opted for Avatar. I mean, I also (as does she) very much like Sandra Bullock, but a football movie???? Intolerable! OK, maybe when it comes on TV and I can leave during the football dreck.

-----------------------------------------------
Personal absolute favorite movie line:
Football sucks!
(Linc, in the remake of "Shall We Dance?")

I hear it comes out on dvd tuesday...so that will probably be the route I take ...I have always liked her in other roles
Fascination, Sandra Bullock's movies last year placed her at the top of the list of box office money-making actors and actresses for 2009. The Blind Side contributed mightily towards this!:)

Aerobi-cide/Killer Workout (1986) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091339/

Where to begin? This is so bad it's great! Film of the year for me :D

Several murders are taking place at the local gym, but who is to blame? Why is it that when murders have taken place/in the process of taking place that they then cut to women/men working out in the gym all at the same time! I thought I was nuts but these guys take their gym memberships to a whole new level of commitment

Fun film, bad acting, bad sound (can hardly hear when people speak), very bad fight sequences that are more funny than serious, synth-pop 80's  music throughout (even when people are being picked up by the morgue)... Incredible! Actually the soundtrack is pretty funky so I'm looking for it today :D My only wish is that when my time is up that somebody plays this soundtrack at my funeral...

Atonement was a very well written book (I've enjoyed most all of Ian McEwan's books), but I never got around to the movie.
Son changed his mind yesterday so we saw The Bounty Hunter instead of The Lightning Thief. Based on what his friends had told him, he thought he would be disappointed in the LT adaptation since it is one of his favorite books. (The apple doesn't fall far from the tree? ... Referencing my opinions on The Age of Innocence some pages back in this thread.) I don't think I need to give you all a review of the Bounty Hunter. You've seen the trailer. But anyway, it was a nice day out with my loved one.

Death Spa (1988 ) ~ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099384/

Pretty cool horror flick. Quite cheesy... music is great in this, trying to locate a couple of the tracks without much success :( This is the kind of gym/spa I'd love to goto. Loads of bright colours, music (oh I mentioned that!), leg warmers (no i won't be wearing those).... there's even a guy who turns down a really nice girl by saying "I'm BETA, you're VHS" what the hell. What a line to dump a girl! :(
I guess today's equivilent would be to say HD-DVD/Blu-ray

Murphy's Law (1986) ~ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091575/

Excellent thriller with Mr. Bronson, prefer his Death Wish series though...

Watched 'Fame' - Did not like that much. It was very distracting because it wasn't enough time to potray lives of young talented people in a 2 hour movie.

The ugly truth - Another romantic comedy with a boring plot. Just boring~~~~

Do you mean the early 80's version or the recent remake? I didn't watch the remake 'cause I don't watch remakes lol. I have re-watched the early 80s (1980?) version recently and I found it to be both dated (leg warmers, anyone?) but also timeless, from my perspective as someone who spent all four high school years as a music major.

No idea how you'd remake the movie to say anything different or unique. *shrug* But of course, I'm no fan of remakes as a rule (there are exceptions, of course.)

The remake for sure. I did remember that they had a tv show back in 80s', and watched the show and liked it. Also, the movie as well, but did not like the remake.

In time, there will be at least two versions of just about everything. Now they are remaking, of all things, the movie Red Dawn (the one starring Patrick Swayze from the 80's)...

Any remakes involving Jane Austen are on my list for immediate consideration.Otherwise, I require at least generally favorable reviews before I head to the theater (or movie rental outlet.)

I loved Gwyneth Paltrow in her version of Emma... I liked the contemporary spin-off, too--Clueless. Rest in peace, Brittany Murphy (Alicia Silverstone and Paul Rudd's co-star)...

Clueless was good one, but I prefer Emma with Gwyneth Paltrow. Especially, the custom.....
