Unfortunately this is smack dab in the middle of my finals, so I will be missing the MIT Open for the first time in 5 years. :(

Hi mindputtee - so sorry you'll be missing the comp! It's the same weekend we've been on for a while, and we've tried to avoid things like school breaks, while being mindful of end of term crunch. Sometimes is just isn't possible to account for every university calendar :-(

Would you pm me with the name of your school? Thanks!

Oh, I'm on a wacky professional school schedule so we don't really synch up with anything! My undergrad frequently had spring break when I have my spring finals now!

Is the floor split in half during preliminary rounds of intermediate standard, and then un-split for later rounds? I watched some YouTube videos and it looked like it, but I wanted to make sure for choreography purposes.

Personally, thinking you can stick to choreographed routines in prelim rounds of intermediate standard on a half-floor is unrealistic. It's mostly a matter of surviving long enough to dance on the full floor :D

Hi Squall, yes the early rounds are on a split floor. Even the split floors are pretty big. If anything we sometimes get complaints that the full floor is "too big". Looking forward to having you dance at the MIT Open!

And nikkita, I guess it's always good to be able to floorcraft off one's routines. Part of the skill set we work towards as dancers sharing a floor with other dancers!

Is there any information on lectures yet, if they're happening this year?
